Contemplative Circle. Online Gathering.
Our weekly online gathering is an invitation to come together in stillness, presence, and thoughtful inquiry.
We begin each session with meditation, not as an end in itself, but as a way to settle the mind and open a space of clarity. From there, we move into contemplation and shared reflection. This is a space to explore the philosophical and existential questions that shape our lives, not from opinion or debate, but from direct experience and attentive listening.
Each week, our inquiry is inspired by the Mindful Harlem newsletter sent every Friday. This reflection serves as a living starting point for the conversation, offering a theme or question for us to explore together through silence, dialogue, and collective insight.
At a time when there are few spaces to gather in this way, this circle offers a rare opportunity to meet others interested in understanding themselves and the world more deeply. We inquire into themes such as identity, freedom, suffering, relationship, purpose, and the nature of awareness, always grounded in the simplicity of presence.
This is not a class, a lecture, or a performance. It is a shared exploration. A place to slow down, to question honestly, and to let understanding emerge naturally through dialogue and silence.
Whether you are new to meditation or have been practicing for years, you are welcome. What matters is not experience, but sincerity and curiosity.
This gathering exists to support a way of being that is often forgotten. One rooted in clarity, listening, and the willingness to look deeply at our own lives, together.
Drop Regrets, Drop Resentments, Drop Worries, DROP IN!
Instructors
Edward Duncan
Executive Director • InstructorI was introduced to mindfulness and meditation many years ago and it has cultivated the landscape to come to the realization and recognize the fact that who I essentially am has nothing to do with my thoughts, feelings, sensations, and perceptions. This practice has provided me with the tools to navigate and be present with the ever-changing, and at times, treacherous terrain called life. I wish as a young teenager growing up in the Bronx, I had these tools in my toolbox to allow me to be present with all of the internal discomfort and uneasiness associated with growing up.
Adrian Bueno
Co-Founder • Board President • InstructorAdrian is the co- founder and guidance teacher of Mindful Harlem and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). He has been practicing Mindfulness and Insight Meditation for many years; a practice which has been a deep transformative experience for him and for the people around him.
Adrian and his family are deeply rooted in Harlem and love the diverse and wholesome community they live in. He is honored to have the opportunity to practice, learn and grow every week with the MH family. For him Meditation, Insight and Mindfulness are the means to a path towards liberation of the mind. He sees Practice, Self-Knowledge and Community as the pillars of wisdom and an awakened society; where empathy, compassion and understanding towards us and others are the components for a wholesome life.
